Well known names to fight for a spot in the main draw

The European Open features an impressive list of names in the main draw, however the qualifying tournament also showcases an impressive number of well-known and talented players.

Nicolas Mahut is probably the most famous name on the list of players in this qualifying tournament. The Frenchman already has 4 ATP-tournaments to his name and was part of the longest match ever in professional tennis. In 2010 he lost in the first round of Wimbledon to John Isner. The match ended 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 68-70. In total the match took 11 hours and 5 minutes. During the past few years, Mahut has transformed himself into a real doubles specialist.  In 2016, by the side of Pierre-Hugues Herbert, he was runner-up in the European Open. The Frenchman will be a feared opponent to Team Belgium at the Davis Cup Final.

Bernard Tomic can also be found on the hardcourt of the Lotto Arena. The enfant terrible of Australian tennis is currently number 146 after once reaching number 17. Tomic is working his way back to the top and let’s make Antwerp the backdrop in which he will do this!

Arthur De Greef, as number 148 on the ATP-ranking, is the fourth ranked Belgian. By reaching the main draw of Roland Garros and with his surprise win over Pablo Cuevas during the tournament in Rio, the grandson of Guy Thijs has had an incredible year. De Greef will give it his all to shine on home turf and to break down the door to the top 100! Tommy Robredo, a former top-5 player, gives the qualifying draw a touch of class. The Spanish clay court specialist has won 12 ATP-tournaments in his career. Thanks to the quarter finals at the Australian Open as well as the US Open, Robredo proved that he should be taken very seriously on hardcourt too.
